Position Summary:
Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads and coaches a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) responsible for access and fulfillment activities across nephrology healthcare provider accounts and execution of the patient access field reimbursement strategy. Ensures healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers have information, tools, and resources to start and stay on therapy; fosters compliant cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor, develop, and lead a field access & reimbursement team.
- Optimize field execution using KPIs and analytics.
- Build long/short-term strategy and manage tactics in a fast-paced environment.
- Drive regional vision, culture, performance, customer relationships, and goals.
- Deliver performance management and coaching; provide training/oversight for regulatory and internal policy compliance.
- Identify and address access/fulfillment obstacles (e.g., pharmacy benefit, specialty pharmacy, REMS).
- Develop a regional business plan to optimize patient initiation and pull-through metrics.
- Be expert in access/reimbursement of the product; train and direct the team.
- Collaborate with field sales and leadership; create cadence between ARMs, hub services, REMS, specialty pharmacy, and payer teams.
- Support issue resolution via field presence and virtual calls; build key account relationships to support onboarding.
- Train on coverage/criteria changes; ensure key access/fulfillment messages in customer engagement.
- Analyze regional performance and address ARM capability gaps.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (related field) required.
- 10+ years pharma/biotech or related; specialty pharma, nephrology, rare disease, and REMS preferred.
- 5+ years in specialty medicines with deep access & reimbursement landscape knowledge (HUBs, payers, specialty pharmacies, etc.).
- 3+ years field reimbursement manager.
- 3+ years first-line team leader with coaching and people development success.

Skills/Experience:
- Cross-functional leadership (training, access marketing, operations and/or payer projects).
- Experience managing access complexities for new-to-market meds; specialty pharmacy product experience.
- Relationship building with HCPs, office staff, sales, and hub counterparts.
- Knowledge of private/commercial and government payer reimbursement (e.g., Medicare Part D, VA).
- Knowledge of benefit verification, prior authorization, appeals, denials, letters of medical necessity, pre-determination.
- Proficient in basic Excel/PowerPoint; ability to resolve issues/educate virtually.
- Strong organization, multitasking, communication, interpersonal skills; prior line management experience.
- Ability to manage complex project plans and adapt to change.
- Field-based: reside in/near assigned region with major airport access; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Travel up to 50% (primarily within region); ability to perform face-to-face work and meet credentialing requirements.
