Position Summary:
- Lead and coach a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) responsible for access/fulfillment across nephrology provider accounts and execution of the patient access field reimbursement strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor, develop, and lead the field access & reimbursement team.
- Enable providers, patients, and caregivers with information/tools/resources to start and stay on therapy.
- Use KPIs/analytics to optimize execution; manage long/short-term strategic planning and tactics.
- Build regional vision and team culture; motivate performance; coach for maximum patient access.
- Provide training/oversight to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Address access/fulfillment obstacles (pharmacy benefit, specialty pharmacy, REMS); develop regional business plans.
- Deliver product access/reimbursement expertise and training; ensure cross-functional collaboration (Patient Experience, Specialty Pharmacy, Market Access, Field Sales).
- Create communication cadence across ARMs, hub services, REMS, specialty pharmacy, and payer teams.
- Spend time in field/virtual calls for development, issue resolution, and feedback.
- Cultivate key account relationships; train on payer coverage/criteria changes; analyze performance and close ARM capability gaps.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelorβs degree (or equivalent via education + experience).
- 10+ years pharma/biotech (specialty pharmaceutical, nephrology, rare disease, REMS preferred).
- 5+ years specialty medicines access & reimbursement (HUBs, payers, specialty pharmacies).
- 3+ years field reimbursement manager.
- 3+ years first-line team leadership (coaching/capability/people development).
Additional Skills/Experience (Preferred):
- Cross-functional training, access marketing, operations and/or payer project experience.
- Manage new-to-market access complexities; specialty pharmacy network experience.
- Knowledge of private/commercial and government reimbursement (e.g., Medicare Part D, VA).
- Experience teaching reimbursement processes (benefit verification, prior auth, appeals, denials, LOMN, pre-determination).
- Strong Excel/PowerPoint skills; ability to resolve issues virtually; excellent communication and organization.
- Field-based role: live in/near region with major airport access; valid driverβs license; reliable vehicle; travel up to 50%.
