Position Summary:
Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads/coaches a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers responsible for access and fulfillment activities across nephrology healthcare provider accounts and executing the patient access field reimbursement strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor, develop, and lead field access/reimbursement team in local geography.
- Enable healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers to start and stay on therapy using required info/tools/resources.
- Use KPIs/analytics to optimize field execution; create long/short-term strategic plans and manage tactics.
- Build team culture, motivate performance, foster customer relationships, and achieve team goals.
- Ensure training/oversight for regulatory compliance and internal policies; coach for maximum patient access expediting.
- Act as expert in access/reimbursement (including pharmacy benefit, specialty pharmacy, REMS) and train the team.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and communication (field sales, Patient Experience, Specialty Pharmacy, Market Access, hub services, payer account team).
- Analyze regional performance, identify ARM capability gaps, and coordinate gap remediation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree (related field) required (or equivalent education/experience).
- 10+ years pharma/biotech or related experience; specialty pharma/nephrology/rare disease/REMS preferred.
- 5+ years specialty medicines access & reimbursement landscape (HUBs, payers, specialty pharmacies, etc.).
- 3+ years field reimbursement manager.
- 3+ years first-line team leadership with coaching/capability/people development.
Skills/Experience (preferred/required):
- Strong reimbursement process education experience (benefit verification, prior auth, appeals/denials, LOMN, pre-determination).
- Experience with new-to-market access complexities; specialty pharmacy networks.
- Private/commercial and government payer reimbursement knowledge.
- Excel/PowerPoint; strong virtual issue resolution, communication, organization, multitasking.
- Valid driverβs license, reliable vehicle; travel up to 50% (predominantly regional).
Benefits/Compensation:
- Target base pay range: $189,000β$246,000 (plus incentives/long-term incentive described).
