Role Summary
Location: Allegan. The Packaging Specialist works on an assembly line packaging OTC pharmaceuticals on 3rd shift. The role follows standard operating procedures, operates controlled equipment, performs in-process testing, and maintains GMP-compliant documentation. The position requires routine material handling and the ability to work overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
- Follow written instructions contained in Standard Operating Procedures, manufacturing orders, cleaning checklists and other controlled documents in accordance with cGMP regulations.
- Physically move bulk materials utilizing pallet jacks; basic material handling and departmental utility tasks may be assigned.
- Operate computer-controlled equipment utilizing a screen-based Operator Interface Terminal (OIT).
- Execute in-process attribute testing and visual inspections.
- Evaluate test results against prescribed parameters to determine if tested product is within specification.
- Accurately, repeatedly, and contemporaneously documented GMP data on equipment logs, batch records and cleaning checklists.
- Execute equipment and line cleaning tasks utilizing manual and automated processes and prescribed cleaning checklists.
- Perform minor equipment servicing activities including disassembly, reassembly, and set-up.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. (Required)
- Basic math and English communication skills, legible penmanship, and a high level of reading comprehension (Required)
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions (Required)
- Working knowledge of computers (Required)
- Availability for training on various shifts (Required)
- 40 hours per week and availability for overtime when necessary (Required)
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen (Required)
- Vision, hearing, reading and writing abilities in English; basic math; ability to interpret information (Required)
- Preferred: Excellent attendance record and work history
- Preferred: Strong mechanical aptitude
- Preferred: 6 months to 1 year of Direct Manufacturing Experience
- Preferred: 1 to 2 years of General Manufacturing Experience
- Preferred: 3 to 4 years of Non-Manufacturing Experience
Education
- High School diploma or G.E.D.

- Physical demands: Stand and walk for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs; climb ladders; stoop/bend; squat; kneel; twist; grasp; move items/boxes.
- Occasionally: Sit; lift 50 lbs; pull and push with skid jacks up to 880 lbs; climb ladders; reach above shoulders and head.
- Rarely: Lift above shoulders and head 25 lbs.
