Description Overview
- Distribution positions primarily driving Powered Industrial Equipment (shifts vary: 2nd or 3rd shift).
Scope of the Role
- Report to the Distribution Supervisor.
- Receive incoming product.
- Pick customer orders.
- Load trucks for shipment to customers.
- Drive Powered Industrial Equipment (forklifts, order pickers, dock trucks).
- Perform considerable physical activity (repetitive bending, lifting, twisting).
Experience Required / Qualifications
- High School diploma (or G.E.D.); excellent attendance record and work history.
- Valid driver’s license, or at least 1 year of motorized Forklift or Hilo driving experience (other driving experience may be considered in some circumstances).
- Ability to work 40 hours/week; availability for overtime when necessary; available to train on other shifts.
- Complete core skills within 1 month/30 days.
- Basic computer skills (point-and-click; navigate computer-based training).
- Basic math and reading/comprehension skills.
- Values safety, teamwork, quality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow direction and standard operating procedures.
- Stand for length of shift with breaks every 2 hours (about 85% of shift spent standing).
- Able to see, hear, and understand signs/labels/instructions; vision must meet driver’s license requirements. If no valid driver’s license, must pass vision/physical requirements and have eye/hand/feet coordination.
Physical / Environmental Requirements
- Consistently/Frequently: stand, walk, lift 60 lbs., pull/push 60 lbs., stoop/bend, squat, twist, reach, grasp, move items/boxes, use hands/fingers.
- Rarely: climb stairs.
- Consistently/Frequently: exposure to loud noises/machinery.
Other Qualities / Skills
- Ability to read/write in English; interpret information; basic to intermediate math (add cases on pallets by layers, count pallets/quantities).
- Problem-solving for pallet stacking and loading semitrailers with varying pallet weights while loading to the correct “scale.”
- Inspect semi-trailers for safety and decide what pallets can be stacked.
