Role Summary
The Co-Op program within AbbVie’s Science & Technology organization offers a hands-on experience in Cell Line Development, focusing on generating monoclonal cell lines and performing studies that support final clone selection. You’ll work with automated and molecular biology tools across cell line expansions and performance evaluation, contributing to data packages and vector design/quality control as part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Execute experiments in bioprocess development and manufacturing support with supervision.
- Perform basic data acquisition and analysis; assist in experimental design and data interpretation.
- Document work in lab notebooks and technical memos; contribute to writing technical reports.
- Maintain lab equipment and optimize operations for efficient use of time and resources.
- Troubleshoot equipment and experimental problems.
- Assist in continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Required: Must be currently pursuing a Master’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (preferably Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Biosciences/Bioengineering).
- Required: Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the co-op.
- Required: Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027.
- Required: Aseptic technique, transfection, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, gene editing, next generation sequencing, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, data analysis using Excel and GraphPad Prism.
Skills
- Exposure to molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gene editing, next generation sequencing.
- Aseptic technique.

Education
- Master’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (preferred fields: Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Biosciences/Bioengineering); expected graduation Dec 2026 – Jun 2027.
