Role Summary

Global Facilities Engineering Intern Overview. Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This internship role will consist of an overall design experience within a group that designs projects to support various facilities, including laboratories, offices, site infrastructure, and vivarium / specialty spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts small to medium size projects with design specialty requiring conventional types of plans, investigations and equipment.
  • Coordinates and monitors design activities and reports progress to upper management.
  • Leads design discussions for planning purposes.
  • Gains knowledge of overall industry & AbbVie specifications / standards.
  • Gains knowledge of various building components such as HVAC equipment, electrical distribution systems, building materials, etc.
  • Creates project estimates for front end planning and budget purposes.
  • Presents to staff leaders, managers and mentors the achievements of the assigned projects as well as the main experiences gained during the program.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a BA/BS in architecture or mechanical, electrical, BMS controls engineering.
    • Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027
    • Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
    • Excellent problem-solving, written and verbal skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with AutoCAD or a form of design software.
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and extra-curricular achievements.
