Role Summary

A 5-month Spring Co-Op in Norwood, MA, from January 20, 2026 to June 26, 2026. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the internship. The Co-op, Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MS&T) will support the production for Modernaโ€™s mRNA platform in cGMP Manufacturing. This role involves collaborating with MS&T, Process Development, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Quality teams to facilitate technology transfer and provide technical operations support under supervision. The co-op will apply basic engineering principles to assist in enhancing manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with cGMP standards, and supporting operational excellence. Location: Moderna Norwood, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional troubleshooting and suggest operational improvements in manufacturing settings under supervision.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical deviations and process improvements with data-driven root cause analyses, CAPAs, and change controls under the guidance of more senior engineers.
  • Participate in the analysis of manufacturing performance through data review and help maintain data repositories.

Qualifications

  • Required: Current student enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomolecular Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biostatistics, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Required: Strong fundamental scientific and engineering skills for the evaluation of experimental data.
  • Required: Laboratory skills applicable to bioprocess development and analytical methods.
  • Required: This position requires US work authorization with no future sponsorship; Moderna cannot sponsor for this role.
  • Required: This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Modernaโ€™s site full-time.
  • Preferred: GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as the ability to contribute to high performing teams.
