2026 Clinical Trial Operations Extern

Role Summary

The 2026 Clinical Trial Operations Extern is a two-day, unpaid program at AbbVie's Headquarters in Lake County, IL, designed for second-year undergraduates to explore internship opportunities in Clinical Trial Operations. Participants gain hands-on experience across key functional areas, build networks with AbbVie leaders and peers, and participate in cross-functional professional development during August 2026. Externs are strongly considered for internship opportunities in the following year.

Responsibilities

• Get immersed in AbbVie's culture
• Gain hands-on experience in a variety of key business areas
• Build an extended network of AbbVie representatives, senior leaders, and students from across the country
• Participate in cross-functional professional development opportunities
• Learn more about AbbVie's career opportunities
• Be considered for an internship for the following summer

Qualifications

• Required: Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with an emphasis on Science
• Required: Expected graduation date between December 2027 - June 2028
• Preferred: Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, and integrity
• Preferred: Business mindset and excellent communication, leadership, project management, problem solving, and analytical skills
• Preferred: Microsoft Excel or other database experience
