Role Summary

As an Audit & Inspection Intern at AbbVie, you will spend your summer engaged with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, gaining world-class experience within one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. You will support the Internal Audit & Inspection Management team with R&D Quality Assurance. This team independently assesses compliance and quality of AbbVie R&D’s pharmaceutical, device, and combination products GxP lifecycle standards. In partnership with R&D and R&D Quality, the team ensures continuous real-time inspection readiness through identification of internal audit trends, knowledge management, and robust proactive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).

Responsibilities

  • Support the Internal Audit & Inspection Management team in planning, organizing, and executing audits to independently assess compliance with AbbVie’s GxP lifecycle standards for pharmaceutical, device, and combination products.
  • Assist with documentation review and data collation to verify adherence to regulatory and internal quality requirements during audits and inspections.
  • Help identify and track trends in internal audit findings, contributing to ongoing knowledge management initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of processes to ensure real-time inspection readiness.
  • Aid in the follow-up of CAPAs resulting from audit findings, supporting robust and proactive quality improvement.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and training materials summarizing audit outcomes and key learnings.

Qualifications

  • Required: Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, pharmacy, life sciences (e.g., biology or biochemistry), public health, nursing, health sciences, biomedical sciences, clinical research, business administration in a healthcare setting or auditing, regulatory affairs, or other related degree
  • Required: Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship
  • Required: Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027
  • Preferred: Medical device or project management experience
