Operations

Role Summary

Maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and upgrade of Perrigo’s utility systems across three buildings, including HVAC, boiler, chillers, electrical panels, plumbing, water systems, and related equipment. Performs general housekeeping tasks and supports manufacturing operations as needed. This is a union position requiring overtime and strict adherence to safety, GMP, and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operations and troubleshooting of Perrigo’s facilities systems in compliance with applicable codes, state requirements, and Perrigo SOPs.
  • Performs utility systems rebuilding/install, upgrade and preventative maintenance.
  • Completes general work orders and interfaces with other technicians across all shifts in a team environment.
  • Performs special projects and other related duties specific to the department as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required: Demonstrated cooperative work conduct and the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Required: Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Required: Five plus years of solid work experience in maintenance skills including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc., or three years as a Perrigo Set Up Tech plus at least two years of completed education in a related program from an accredited university/college.
  • Preferred: Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) background.
  • Required: Computer skills in Microsoft Suite and experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP, with the ability to navigate through computer-based training systems desirable.
  • Required: Ability to read and work from blueprints.
  • Required: Demonstrated commitment to meeting schedules and deadlines through good attendance and willingness to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.

Education

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalency.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical/electrical diagrams.
  • Experience with CMMS (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interface with technicians across shifts.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance practices; ability to diagnose issues in facility systems.

Additional Requirements

  • Works from ladders and man lifts; ability to continuously lift 20 lbs and up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Stand on concrete floors for 8 hours to 12 hours.
  • Push or pull up to 400 pounds using a manual cart.
  • Stoop, squat, and bend; work in confined spaces and high areas with proper procedures; sustained reach above shoulder height.
  • Frequent grasping of objects, small hand tools, calipers, etc.
  • Visual and auditory acuity to work safely and accurately in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment to comply with hazardous procedures.
  • Minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime through extended shifts and weekends.
  • Must pass scissor lift driving and forklift driving tests; must pass confined space and fall arrest training.
  • Must be able to wear negative and/or positive pressure respirators daily and be medically cleared to wear respirators.
  • Must comply with safety, environmental and health practices; follow SOPs, GMPs, and safety/housekeeping guidelines.
  • Must be able to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets.
